Although Izzy Gets The F*ck Across Town often attempts more than it accomplishes, the film is ambitious and achieves plenty along the way. Its directorial vision is distinct and, while not always agreeable, creates a strong tone for this disheveled tale. The parts don’t always solidify but respect must be given to the variety of technical spices used here; namely the slick transition edits, touches of abstract cinematography, & vibrant scoring. Meanwhile, the cast is mostly great and having good times with their roles, there is a moving musical performance, and the humor is generally fitting. Unfortunately, it is the core of Izzy Gets The F*ck Across Town that will limit it for most.

Izzy Gets The F*ck Across Town‘s most divisive quality is undoubtedly its writing, which touches on many interesting ideas yet fails to unify in the way the film needs. Built on conflicted characters, relatable relationships, and potent themes, this script has many moments of real connection. Sadly, its conclusions feel unearned to an almost unhealthy level, leaving viewers to wonder whether the experience actually attains anything. Because the movie reaches for so much growth yet achieves questionable results, it is destined to spark controversy. Overall, Izzy Gets The F*ck Across Town is not the movie it strived to be but gets further than most.
