Bewitching its viewers with spellbinding style and cryptic tones, Nancy is an unsettling visitor in the heart & mind. Though sometimes too overt, the script does well to draw on familiar feelings & relevant themes. Meanwhile, the strong direction and solid acting of Nancy creates convincingly conflicted characters and a palpably strained atmosphere. Doubters will claim this film lacks adequate substance but those viewer may be overlooking the cornucopia of details surrounding the intentionally sparse story.

Although Nancy occasionally gets bogged down in overstating its points & playing things too coy, its methodical camerawork & menacing soundtrack are breaths of fresh air that maintain audience captivation. The main crux of this film is its icy & haunting mood, which it radiates by slowing its narrative to build settings, emotions and perspectives. While uncomfortably small, the movie fires on all cylinders and lands with unmistakable quality. In the end, Nancy is deliberately unwelcoming but executed with artistry, making it a stirring experience.
